PFC Michael Giannattasio

The PFC Iron Mike Foundation

PFC Michael Giannattasio died during Reconnaissance training aboard Camp Pendleton, California on August 30, 2017. Michael had passed his swim tests at the top of his class and then during land navigation training he suddenly collapsed. Michael's cause of death is still undetermined but he was known for giving his all in everything he did.

The family of PFC Michael Giannattasio has started the PFC Iron Mike Foundation to honor their son and heal by helping others. Michael's brother, Louis, is severely cognitively impaired. The mission of the PFC Iron Mike Foundation is to help others like Michael's brother get special therapies, unique to their special needs.

Captain Freeman

The Matthew Freeman Project™

Captain Matthew C. Freeman, 29, of Richmond Hill, Ga.; assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan; died Aug. 7, 2009 while supporting combat operations in the Shpee Valley, Afghanistan. He was awarded the Bronze Medal for his heroic actions during the combat that took his life.

The Matthew Freeman Project is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to the support of education in order to promote communities of promise, prosperity and peace throughout the US and the World.
